Minhajy

Minhajy: a free Quran recitation and tajweed app

Minhajy is a free Quran recitation and tajweed app that runs in your browser — nothing to download from a store — and that you can install on Android, iPhone and your computer in two taps. Listen to reciters, recite and have every word checked, read the mushaf, and learn tajweed, aqidah, fiqh and daily duas, in the Hafs and Qaloon riwayat.

What you can do in the app

  • Listen: the whole Quran with reciters such as Alafasy, Al-Husary and Al-Minshawi, with word-by-word highlighting.
  • Recite: read out loud and every word is checked as you go — wrong letters, wrong vowels, skipped and extra words, the length of each madd, and tajweed rules such as ghunna, ikhfāʾ and idghām when tajweed correction is on — with a report at the end.
  • Read: the Madina mushaf (604 pages), per-rule tajweed colours you can switch on or off, and a Latin transliteration view.
  • Learn tajweed: step-by-step lessons from the makhārij, drills and quizzes.
  • Learn aqidah and fiqh: short lessons, practice and quizzes in Arabic, English and French.
  • Duas: daily duas and adhkar — morning, evening, after prayer and more.
  • Hafs and Qaloon: the mushaf text and the recitation checking follow the riwaya you choose.

Install it on your phone or computer

Minhajy is a web app: it is not in the App Store or Google Play. Installing it from the browser puts an icon on your home screen and opens it in its own window, like any app.

  • iPhone and iPad (Safari): open minhajy.app, tap the Share button, then «Add to Home Screen», then «Add».
  • Android (Chrome): open minhajy.app, tap the ⋮ menu, then «Install app» (or «Add to Home screen»).
  • Computer (Chrome or Edge): open minhajy.app and click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose «Install Minhajy».

What it costs

Reading, listening, the lessons, quizzes, courses and duas are free for now. Live recitation checking runs on GPU servers, so it has a free allowance: 15 sessions in your first 14 days, then 7 free sessions every week. No ads, and your data is never sold.

What it is not

Minhajy is a practice aid, not a teacher and not an ijazah — its tajweed marks included. Speech recognition can be wrong, so treat the checking as a second opinion and learn with a qualified teacher. It needs an internet connection: the listening happens on a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Minhajy app for iPhone or Android?
Yes, as a web app: open minhajy.app in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android) and add it to your home screen. There is no App Store or Google Play listing.
Is Minhajy free?
Reading, listening, lessons, quizzes and duas are free for now. Live recitation checking has a free allowance: 15 sessions in the first 14 days, then 7 every week.
Can it check my recitation in Qaloon?
Yes. Both the mushaf text and the checking follow the riwaya you choose: Hafs 'an 'Asim or Qaloon 'an Nafi'.
Does it check tajweed?
Yes, when the «Tajweed correction» option is on (it is on by default): the report marks rules such as ghunna, ikhfāʾ, idghām, iqlāb, iẓhār and qalqala, and the length of each madd, as Mistakes or tips to Refine. It is a practice aid that can be wrong, not a teacher.
Does it work without an account?
You can try reciting al-Fātiḥa without an account at minhajy.app/try. Saving progress, the full mushaf and the courses need a free account.
Does it work offline?
No. The app needs an internet connection, because the recitation checking runs on a server.
