Minhajy

Live tajweed correction: recite and see your mistakes word by word

Minhajy listens while you recite and marks each word as you go. With tajweed correction on, it also names the tajweed rules you missed, such as madd, ghunna, ikhfāʾ, idghām and qalqala, in the Hafs or the Qaloon riwaya. It is a practice aid that runs in your browser, not a teacher and not an ijazah.

What the tajweed correction checks

Madd is checked in every session. The rules below are checked when the «Tajweed correction» option is on (it is on by default; turn it off if you have not studied tajweed yet).

  • Madd: the length of each madd (natural, separated, joined and necessary), and a madd where there is none.
  • Ghunna.
  • Ikhfāʾ, including labial ikhfāʾ, iqlāb and iẓhār.
  • The kinds of idghām.
  • The sun and moon lām, and the heavy or light rāʾ and lām of the name Allah.
  • Qalqala, shadda and hamzat al-waṣl.
  • Letters written but not pronounced, and how you stop on a word (waqf).
  • The qualities of the letters (ṣifāt al-ḥurūf), shown as tips to refine.

How the correction looks while you recite

  • Each word is marked as you read it: correct, or the kind of mistake.
  • After the session, the report lists what it found as Mistakes and tips to Refine, with the name of each tajweed rule.
  • Red marks clear errors (a letter, a vowel, a madd not held at all). Orange marks finer tajweed faults (a ghunna not held, a madd held too short or too long).
  • Each madd card shows how many counts you held and the length your riwaya expects.
  • In strict tilawa, a missed tajweed rule can also stop you, and its name is shown.

Letters, vowels and words too

Besides tajweed, every session catches wrong letters, wrong tashkeel, skipped words and extra words. You can hide the text and recite from memory; the checking works the same way.

Limits, stated plainly

Speech recognition can be wrong: it will sometimes mark a correct recitation or a correctly applied rule as a mistake, or miss one. Treat the result as a helpful second opinion and learn with a qualified teacher.

  • It does not assess the beauty of your voice or your melody.
  • It does not work offline, because the listening happens on a server.
  • It publishes no accuracy percentage, because it has not been measured against a public benchmark.

Hafs and Qaloon, and what it costs

The checking follows the riwaya you choose, Hafs 'an 'Asim or Qaloon 'an Nafi'. Live checking runs on GPU servers, so it has a free allowance: 15 sessions in your first 14 days, then 7 free sessions every week. Reading, listening, the lessons, quizzes and courses are free for now.

What is live tajweed correction?
You recite out loud and Minhajy marks each word while you read. With the tajweed correction option on, the session report also names the tajweed rules you missed, such as madd, ghunna, ikhfāʾ, idghām and qalqala.
Which tajweed rules does Minhajy check?
Madd length in every session. With tajweed correction on: ghunna, ikhfāʾ, iqlāb, iẓhār, the kinds of idghām, the sun and moon lām, qalqala, shadda, hamzat al-waṣl, the heavy or light rāʾ and lām of the name Allah, letters written but not pronounced, and how you stop on a word.
