Before Sleeping

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Bismika llāhumma amūtu wa aḥyā

Upon Waking

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alḥamdu lillāhi lladhī aḥyānā baʿda mā amātanā wa ilayhi n-nushūr

Before Eating

In the name of Allah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ

Bismillāh

After Eating

All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Alḥamdu lillāhi lladhī aṭʿamanī hādhā wa razaqanīhi min ghayri ḥawlin minnī wa lā quwwah

If You Forget Bismillah

In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ

Bismillāhi awwalahu wa ākhirahu

Entering Home

In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon Allah our Lord we rely.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Bismillāhi walajnā, wa bismillāhi kharajnā, wa ʿalā llāhi rabbinā tawakkalnā

Leaving Home

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power or might except with Allah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillāhi, tawakkaltu ʿalā llāhi, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh

Entering Bathroom

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil and evil-doers.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina l-khubthi wa l-khabāʾith

Leaving Bathroom

I seek Your forgiveness.

غُفْرَانَكَ

Ghufrānak

Entering Mosque

O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy.

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allāhumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik

Leaving Mosque

O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka min faḍlik

Before Wudu

In the name of Allah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ

Bismillāh

After Wudu

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

Ashhadu an lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhu wa rasūluh

Morning Remembrance

O Allah, by You we enter the morning, by You we enter the evening, by You we live, by You we die, and to You is the resurrection.

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā, wa bika naḥyā, wa bika namūtu, wa ilayka n-nushūr

Evening Remembrance

O Allah, by You we enter the evening, by You we enter the morning, by You we live, by You we die, and to You is our return.

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

Allāhumma bika amsaynā, wa bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika naḥyā, wa bika namūtu, wa ilayka l-maṣīr

Before Reading Quran

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

Aʿūdhu billāhi mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm

Relief from Worry

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being overcome by debt and from being overpowered by men.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina l-hammi wa l-ḥazan, wa l-ʿajzi wa l-kasal, wa l-bukhli wa l-jubn, wa ḍalaʿi d-dayni wa ghalabati r-rijāl

For Knowledge

My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidnī ʿilmā

Before Studying

My Lord, expand my chest, and ease my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech.

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي، وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي، وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي، يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Rabbi shraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī, waḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī, yafqahū qawlī

General Dua

Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbanā ātinā fī d-dunyā ḥasanatan wa fī l-ākhirati ḥasanatan wa qinā ʿadhāba n-nār
